Bayern against Bamberg, Bayreuth against Hamburg and Würzburg against Weißenfels – that was the result of the draw by Bundesliga managing director Stefan Holz and boxer Nelvie Tiafack on Wednesday in Cologne. Champion and cup finalist Alba Berlin also starts with a home game and awaits the Telekom Baskets Bonn. The main round winner of the last BBL season, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, meets the Hakro Merlins Crailsheim away from home.
It is good for the Bavarian clubs that they – with the exception of Bamberg in Munich – all have home rights. Hamburg, a playoff participant from last season, is waiting for Bayreuth. Weißenfels finished the season as 15th.
