Basketball: Bamberg’s squad finished with Cooke commitment

Derek Cooke Jr. first played football at Fort Washington High School and didn’t get into basketball until college. There he helped Wyoming in his senior year with eight points and six rebounds on average for the first participation in university history in the NCAA tournament.

Cooke made his first professional steps in Greece, but then quickly moved to the NBA G-League. This was followed by positions in Australia and Canada, among other places. The center came to Europe again for the 2019/2020 season, in which it joined the Italian first division club Trieste.

Used in three competitions in Minsk

Most recently, Cooke was under contract with Tsmoki-Minsk. There he played in three competitions. In the Belarusian Premier League he made an average of eight points and five rebounds for the title. In the VTB United League he averaged eight points and eight rebounds. Although he only played one game in the Basketball Champions League, he scored a strong 19 points and got nine rebounds.

“Derek Cooke Jr. is a great athlete. He’s also a great rebounder who will give us a lot on both sides of the field. With that, our squad is complete and preparation can begin on August 9th.” Bamberg coach Johan Roijakkers
