Basketball: Bamberg signs shooting guard Simpson

His season best in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) had Simpson achieved against his new employer. In January 2020 he was active at Rasta Vechta and put 32 points in the basket for Upper Franconia, including a fabulous nine threesomes.

Accordingly, the Shooting Guard remembers the cathedral city well: “I played two of my best games in Germany against Bamberg. I felt particularly at home in the Brose Arena,” said the 29-year-old with a smile at his introduction. Now he has received a one-year contract with Upper Franconia and is looking forward to “being able to call the arena my home from now on”. Coach Johan Roijakkers appreciates Simpson “in addition to his shooting, above all his athletic abilities”.

Points collector in the BBL and in the Champions League

After several positions in Greece, Finland, France, the Philippines, Hungary and Italy, Simpson switched to the basketball Bundesliga in the 2019/2020 season. At Rasta Vechta he was the top scorer in the BBL games with 15.1 points. In the Basketball Champions League he scored around 14 points per game for Lower Saxony. Last season he played for the Turkish first division club Gaziantep Basketbol, ​​with whom he got into the playoffs, but lost there against the eventual champions Efes Istanbul.

Two Americans in Bamberg’s new squad

Simpson is next season’s squad alongside Justin Robinson. The German positions are currently occupied by Christian Sengfelder, Kenneth Ogbe, Dominic Lockhart, Elias Baggette, Joel Aminu, Marvin Omuvwie and Patrick Heckmann.
