Atletico Madrid have officially announced the transfer of Rodrigo De Paul from Udinese. Thus ended the hunt for the Argentine player.
Rodrigo De Paul is reportedly being targeted by many clubs, including from fellow Serie A and Premier League teams, heading into the transfer market this summer. He performed brilliantly in 2020/2021, scoring nine goals and 10 assists from 36 appearances in Serie A.
The 27-year-old also recently helped Argentina win the 2021 Copa America. He scored one goal in three matches and performed well in the final against Brazil.
Atletico Madrid announced that Rodrigo De Paul is now officially their player. They paid around 35 million euros and tied the player to a contract until June 2026.
“I am very happy, I will be playing for a team that won LaLiga last season and I know the responsibility that comes with it,” De Paul told the club’s official website.
“This is a big step in my career, even for this moment to happen, right after winning the Copa America. I will try to live up to all expectations.”
“I am a football fan and I know Atletico very well because I previously played in Spain. Not to mention all my friends and colleagues who play here,” he added.
At least Inter Milan and Liverpool had been linked with Rodrigo De Paul. LaLiga itself is not a foreign competition for De Paul because he had strengthened Valencia for two seasons.
