Archery: the Division 2 team qualified for the national final

The Arc-club Division 2 team, made up of Pierre Gerzain, Maxime Calatayud, Guillaume Ciofini and Guillaume Gogioso, traveled on Sunday July 4 to Auros (Gironde) to compete in the qualifying phase for the French Division championship 2, played in Tours (Indre-et-Loire). Given the context and the lack of reference on their opponents, the objective was above all to progress in the homogeneity of the matches, an exercise where the Manduellois were in difficulty in the past.

The program for the day was quite dense with fourteen matches during the day.

The beginnings were encouraging with two victories then a narrow defeat against Perpignan, a former Division1 team.

Five matches won in the afternoon

Unfortunately, the Manduellois fell back in their way in the morning with only one additional victory over the following four matches. More than the defeats, the general level and the big faults were worrying before the seven matches of the afternoon. Only 6th at the end of the morning, the qualification seemed to move away.

Aware that it was necessary to react quickly, the Manduelloise team then displayed a completely different face. More combative and applied, she won five matches against Perpignan, Vedène, Lattes, Montpellier and Ruelle. For the two defeats, the gap with the opponents was short and the match level high.

Manduel finally finished in 3rd place in the competition, synonymous with qualification for the national final on July 18, in Tours. The goal is fully successful for the club which qualifies for the final for the first time, and has made enormous progress in dealing with matches and stress.
