Today, in Cantalupa, the presentation of the archery blues took place, which on July 15 will leave for Tokyo to play the Olympic Games at Yumenoshima Park Archery Field from 23 to 31 July. They will represent Italy Mauro Nespoli, Tatiana Andreoli, Lucilla Boari e Chiara Rebagliati who will take part in 4 out of the 5 scheduled competitions: the men’s and women’s individual, the mixed team and the women’s team competition. The Technical Coordinator is also leaving for the Japanese capital Health Spigarelli, i coach Matteo Bisiani e Natalia Valeeva.

The veteran Mauro Nespoli he said he was ready to take the field for his fourth Olympics: “The Rio experience gave me the strength to leave again to get to Tokyo. For the first time I will go to the shooting line without the team and I will be the oldest athlete in the delegation. It will certainly be a different experience than in the past. In the individual there are very strong athletes, from South Koreans to the Americans, but there are also others who have shown themselves in these last rounds of the world cup. I stayed a bit out of the way, I am filing the last details before the start and I want to have my say trying to be among the first. Even in the mixed team we have chances: we won bronze at the world championship and gold at the European games in 2019: we are competitive and we will try to confirm it in Tokyo“.

Lucilla Boari is the only one among the blue to already have an active presence in an Olympics: “In Rio we didn’t win a medal, but in terms of experiences and emotions I brought a lot back home. Now we have a very important opportunity because we are a team with great potential. There is the team event and the mixed team one where we can do well. In an Olympics anything can happen, you have to compete together and we have shown that we know how to do it. I really hope that we will be able to bring the colors of Italy to the top”.

First Olympic experience, however, for the Turin Tatiana Andreoli: “Due to Covid-19 we will not be able to fully enjoy the atmosphere of the Games and get to know the city that hosts us, but this will ensure that our focus will be 100% on competition only. So we think about enjoying our race, having fun and trying to do the best we can, which is the real goal of every athlete who participates in this great event.“.

Also Chiara Rebagliati will be able to experience the atmosphere of the most important sporting event in the world for the first time: “Winning the pass was a great thrill because I relived my 14 years of archery in a few moments, from when I started as a child with a school bow to this important milestone. In Tokyo we will experience great emotions and I am happy to share this sporting adventure with Lucilla and Tatiana. When we go to the shooting line we will have to do what we know“.
