Women’s boxing, Irma Testa wins the pre-Olympic in Paris. Walsh scrapped in the final – OA Sport

Irma Testa won the gold medal in the pre-Olympic boxing tournament which ends today in Paris. Our feather-weight completed his ride in the ring of the French capital, triumphing peremptorily between 57 kg after having already conquered the pass for the Tokyo 2021 Olympics when she had qualified for the semifinals. The boxer from Campania was the protagonist of a literally stunning performance against the Irishman Michaela Walsh, against which he prevailed by unanimous verdict (5-0: 30-27 for three judges, 29-28 for the other two). The 23-year-old offered a test of excellent technical level, once again showing all her peculiar qualities: excellent agility, excellent footwork, impeccable reach, valuable guard and precision of the shots.

Irma Testa has amply deserved the success against an opponent of absolute depth and enviable pedigree, bronze at the 2018 European Championships and silver at the 2019 EU Championships. another important statement for our standard bearer, who will thus be able to present herself at the Games with the awareness of being able to fight for the conquest of a medal, even for those of the most precious metal.

Today Irma Testa was impeccable in all the shots, towering during the nine minutes in the ring from the top of her greatest technical skill and exploiting all her height, which allows her to better control the ring and constantly tease the opponent. Walsh tried, but it often failed and was rarely able to read the moves of our standard bearer.
