He was born on December 7, 1973 in Yalova.
İbrahim Kutluay, who grew up with the desire to be a football player, started playing basketball at the age of 13 in Fenerbahçe’s youth team with his basketball talent coming to the fore and competed in youth teams for 4 years.
He was recruited to the first team in 1990. İbrahim Kutluay, who rose to the national team with his successful game, became the most important attacking force of the team, especially with his high percentage of throws.
He averaged 21.4 points in the 1998-1999 season and placed first in the Euroleague. He left Fenerbahçe in 1999 and transferred to Anadolu Efes.
İbrahim Kutluay, who transferred to Greece’s AEK team in 2000, became the first Turkish basketball player to play in this country. He transferred to Panathinaikos in 2001. He became the EuroLeague champion with his team in 2002.
