London

Bruno Fernandes failed to inspire Manchester United to lose in the Europa League final. Top manager Arsene Wenger believes Fernandes is exhausted.

The Portuguese football star has always been the focus of MU since signing from Sporting Lisbon in January 2019. Throughout 2020/2021 Fernandes appeared the most among his teammates with 58 games with 28 goals and 17 assists.

However, Fernandes actually dimmed in the last match as well as the most important for Manchester United. Facing Villarreal in Gdansk in the Europa League final, MU lost on penalties 10-11 after a 1-1 draw until extra time. The Red Devils’ title drought is getting longer after last winning it in 2017.

The spotlight turned to Bruno Fernandes after the game. The reason, Fernandes difficulty after only making two kicks (off target) and did not make a key pass.

“Personally I feel that he was tired, and he lost his shine. And sometimes you can see it too, I felt he was more nervous in that game,” Wenger told BeIN Sports.

“So it’s also a sign of fatigue. Your best level is composure, concentration and control. And in the last four or five games I think he was a bit weak in those things. So I hope he can recover so he can be efficient for Portugal. ” concluded the man who had coached Arsenal for 22 years.

After the failure in Gdansk, Bruno Fernandes was banned from slumping for a long time because Portugal was needed for the 2020 European Cup. Fernandes cs will face the first match against Hungary in the Group F match on June 15, 2021.
