The year before last, Vondroušová played the finals in Paris and shows that she brought her form this time as well. In the second round, she did not stay much on the central court with the Frenchwoman, who played the main competition of the grand slam tournament for the fourth time in her career. In an hour and two minutes she won clearly 6: 1, 6: 3.

Tanová got up at the end of the second set, when she started to resist her favorite opponent, but the Czech player did not let the match be taken and deservedly advanced with an overview.

“I’m happy to have won, and I’m happy with the first win at the center court,” Vondroušová said in an interview on the court with former tennis player Marion Bartoli. “It wasn’t that easy, it’s home and I played against the fans, but I’m glad the audience is back in the stands,” she said.

In the third round, Vondroušová is only the second time in her fifth start in Paris. She did it for the first time on the mentioned trip to the final two years ago. Slovenian Polona Hercogová is waiting for her in the third round, with which she played once and won the clay court in Rome last year after the fight.

Tennis swing: from 1: 5 to the progress

Siniakova did not start well with the best Russian tennis player of today, who is on the 30th place in the world rankings. The 29th player of the Paris tournament quickly led 3: 0. But then Siniak got up, refined the game and reduced it to 1: 3, 2: 5 and led the set into a tiebreak and fought it 9: 7.

The Czech tennis player, who has recently celebrated success mainly in doubles with Barbora Krejčíková, was not a favorite, but she proved to be a great fighter. In the second set, she was already leading 3: 0.

But … at the beginning of the second set, she won the service and immediately took the service of her opponent, who believed in vain that she would find a counter-weapon against the well-playing Siniak. With a more colorful game, she pushed on Russia, which still drew hope when she averted her breakball after a tug-of-war, won the serve and reduced it to 1: 3.

The players pulled for each ball. The Czech Republic was decided by the referee’s decision, who did not interrupt the game after the line referee announced a car in an important phase of the game, according to Sinaková – the game continued and Siniaková lost. The dispute has so far ruled the leading tennis player, and after the second set she lost, she had the supervisor called. But he told her to interrupt the game.

Then Siniak was mentally together for a long time. With the score 1: 5 in the decisive set, she averted the opponent’s match point. The second came only at 4: 5, but it did not work out for Russia too, and Siniakova did not let the match be taken.

“I played both matchwords very well, I went for it and it turned out to my side,” said Siniaková, who managed to enter the doubles with Barbora Krejčíková. “It’s been a tough day. I’m excited that it worked out that way. I appreciate it. Luck was on my side for not leaving it there.”

Tamara Zidanšeková is waiting for her in the third round. She has a 1: 2 balance with Slovinka, she lost to her twice in a row and last time in Prague last year. “I have something to give her back. She is also solid, aggressive and has a good forehand, a little boyish. I expect a tough match, but it’s open,” said Siniaková.
