Virtus Bologna is the Italian champion for the first time since 2001.

Virtus Bologna defeated Olimpia Milano 73-62 in the Legabasket Serie A Finals and won the 4th game in the series to reach the championship.

Marco Belinelli led their team with 15 points and Kyle Weems with 14 points, while Milos Teodosic scored 10 points. Teodosic was also named Finals MVP. Alessandro Pajola also struggled with 8 points – 5 rebounds – 4 assists.

Ettore Messina’s team started the second quarter with 8 points, but Bologna had a double digit advantage in the final period.

Sasha Djordjevic’s team won its first championship since 2001, and achieved this success for the 16th time in total. As the series ended 4-0, this was the first time since 2010.

Shavon Shields had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds while Kevin Punter scored 11 points.
