Two hard knocks for OM

If the Olympique de Marseille managed to sign a nice blow by recruiting Gerson, the Marseille leaders do not know the same success in the Lirola and Balerdi cases.

L’Olympic Marseille managed the first nice coup of the summer transfer window. The transfer is certainly not yet official but it is now clear that Gerson will be Marseille next season. A reinforcement of choice for the Ciel et Blancs who have agreed to spend some 20 million euros to recruit the midfielder of Flamengo. And more good news could follow as the files Matteo Guendouzi and Thiago Almada would also be well advanced.

On the other hand, the Olympian club is not at the party concerning Leonardo Balerdi and Pol Lirola, two loaned players that the Sky and White would like to keep. Regarding the Spanish defender, Pablo Longoria did not wish to exercise the purchase option established at 12 million euros during the summer transfer window, convinced of being able to agree with the Fiorentina on a lower price. But the Florentine leaders are inflexible and do not intend to give up their player for less than the 12 million initially planned. And the Viola is all the more uncompromising as the young side pleases Gennaro Gattuso, who is counting on him for the resumption. The Tuscan club will nevertheless have to convince the former Juventus player, determined to stay at OM.

The situation is similar with Lucas Balerdi. The Marseille leaders would like to keep the Argentine central defender but did not want to pay the call option set at 14 million euros. And to believe picture, Borussia Dortmund would not want to renegotiate this price down either. An unaffordable sum for the Sky and White. However, all hope is not lost for the Phocaeans, who are now thinking of asking for a new loan from the Marsupials.
