Two days after the violent thunderstorm that hit Trois-Rivières, the Métabéroutin Golf Club had to resign itself to remaining closed Thursday.

According to one of the owners, Patrick Ladouceur, at least thirty mature trees have been broken, damaged or downright uprooted. “Probably hundred-year-old trees. And branches, there’s more to finish, ”he told TVA Nouvelles.

A natural disaster which Mr. Ladouceur would have done well in this second pandemic summer. “We taste it. We thought we had made it: we are falling into the yellow zone, soon the green, but it looks like we have just fallen back to red! ” he imaged.

Luckily, many club members and volunteers have put their shoulders to the wheel so that we can welcome golfers again on Friday.

The Ki-8-Eb Golf Club also weathered the storm. “Twelve trees fell on the course,” said club professional Luc Boisvert. “No injuries, fortunately. The mermaid left on time. There were still a few golfers who took shelter. But lucky they weren’t in the shelter of the ninth hole because a tree fell on it. We were very lucky that there was no one below. ”

Again Thursday, the Hydro-Quebec teams were busy restoring electricity, but the golfers were still there.
