Train the Mexican basketball preselection in Hermosillo

BEAUTIFUL, THEY ARE.- The burst sport in Hermosillo is in full swing with the arrival of the players summoned by Omar Quintero to the National Basketball Pre-selection.

The Nogales coach seeks to form the team that competes in the Tokyo 2020 Qualifying Tournament, calling on old acquaintances of national basketball with international experience and young promises who are starting their way through the collegiate courts of the United States.

The Sonora Arena was in charge of hosting this Wednesday the first training session of the group of 17 players who stepped on the ground of the Sonoran capital who aspire to remain in the team.

Among the basketball players who responded to Quintero’s call, the names of the Sonoran Víctor Álvarez, Diego Willis, Bryan Ceballos, Jorge Camacho, Jorge Moreno and Alejandro Reyna stand out.

In the morning a mobility practice and shooting session were held, paying attention to the tactical aspects of the game, while in the afternoon they worked on counterattacks, highlighting the defensive duels, to end with the five-against-five clashes.

The Preselection will maintain a stay of one week in the capital of Sonora, leaving after those who have passed the cut to a European tour where they will compete in the Energaq Cup on June 12 and 13 in Poland, the Acropolis Cup from 18 to 20 in Greece, and closing with a friendly against Serbia on the 23rd.

The tour will serve as a preparation for the Olympic qualifier from June 29 to July 4 in Split, Coracia, a contest in which Mexico will compete for its ticket as part of Group A along with Russia and Germany, while Tunisia, Brazil and the hosts will meet. in group B, the six teams fighting for the only pass available.

For all this, the work carried out jointly by Ameba Nacional and Ademeba Sonora to concentrate the Preselection on Sonoran soil, in addition to the amount of Sonoran talent summoned, represents a before and after for basketball in the region.
