Tokyo, record shipment. Malagò: “But sport is not yet autonomous, pieces of the state obstruct”

Record. In such dramatic moments for the Pase, sport gives a splendid example of endurance, of the desire to emerge, to fight: 315 Azzurri have already qualified for Tokyo Olympics (161 men, 154 women) in 30 different disciplines, with 76 individual passes. Exceeded the record of Rio 2016 (314). In addition, with 154 athletes at the Games, it is the pinkest blue expedition ever (in Rio there were 144). In boxing more girls than boys (maybe they catch one), as well as in sailing, shooting, modern penthalon, gymnastics, table tennis and judo girls have outdone boys. Bellutti built her electoral campaign (disastrous, only one vote, perhaps by a left-wing promotion body) for the presidency of Coni precisely on the presence of women in sport. She will be happy now: not only are there a lot of them on the field but they are also making their way as managers, the two vice-presidents of Coni for example are Silvia Salis and Claudia Giordani, never happened. If they work hard, no road is closed for girls.

It is the eighth time that Italy has exceeded 300: previously Athens 2004 (367), Sydney 2000 (361), Atlanta 1996 (347), Beijing 2008 (340), Barcelona 1992 (318), Rio 2016 (314 ) and Los Angeles 1984 (312). The primacy of Rio, as mentioned, has already been beaten: now they still expect qualified athletes, boxing, golf and tennis (but based on the ranking there is the risk that for the first time there is not even a woman), pentathlon, while men’s basketball will have to do the feat in Belgrade against Serbia. Odds 330 had been exceeded in the past only when there were eight teams: for now they are four as in Rio 2016 (men’s and women’s volleyball, Settebello, softball that took the place of Setterosa, while 3×3 basketball is an individual sport). At the most we could therefore reach five teams with men’s basketball: big disappointment from the Setterosa of water polo and from the under 21 of football (but unfortunately this is not a novelty). Primacy also of individual appearances for Tokyo. Italian sport keeps pace, the dream (see Spy Calcio of 6 June) is 33 medals, 5 more than Rio where there were 8 golds (now hopefully in Chamizo, in women’s volleyball, in Palmisano and Paltrinieri in open water). The expedition is almost ready now, just over a month away from the inauguration of the Games (23 July). The blue delegation will be fully vaccinated. This time there will also be Casa Italia, housed in Tokyo at “The Kihinkan-Takanawa House”, a building characterized by an early 20th century Art Nouveau architecture located in the Minato district, about 10 kilometers from the Olympic Village and the Main Press Center. An excellent job by Diego Nepi and his staff: of course, in Tokyo there will be restrictions that were not there in the past but the Made in Italy will still be represented in the best way (and then Coni will have a surplus of a couple millions, which is not bad at all). Coni has many sponsors, in recent years the sector has grown in weight and prestige. Tomorrow, Wednesday 9 June, the partnership with Baglioni Hotels & Resort will be presented in Rome.

Giovanni Malagò, this morning in Agorà, Rai 3, proudly recalled the primacy of pink quotas at the Games, recalled how in Italy sports in schools practically do not exist and that refreshments were not enough for everyone, but also pointed the finger on the autonomy of sport, guaranteed by the Conte decree, which is struggling to take off: “The law exists, but only on paper. There are no implementing decrees, there is a rebound of responsibility between pieces of the state who are champions in trying to hinder, create obstructions “. This has been going on for over two years. Furthermore, for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games, which will manage one billion infrastructures, there is still no government green light. On the 17th decisive meeting, the commissioner is arriving. The Foundation that deals with the sporting part, of which Malagò is president, goes on with its projects, after the clarifications with the IOC. But the delay must be bridged, and quickly.

The Festa delle Fiamme Gialle, a stamp for the 100 years of athletics activity

A big party. At the Hall of Honor of the “Sante Laria” Barracks of the General Command of the Guardia di Finanza, in the presence of the Minister of Economic Development Hon. Giancarlo Giorgetti, of the General Commander of the Corps, General CA Giuseppe Zafarana, of the Undersecretary for Sport Valentina Vezzali and the Managing Directors of Poste Italiane, Matteo Del Fante, and the Poligrafico and Mint State Institute, Paolo Aielli, as well as the President of Coni, Giovanni Malagò, the President of the Paralympic Committee, Luca Pancalli, and the President of Sport and Salute, Vito Cozzoli, the presentation ceremony of the commemorative stamp of the centenary of Fiamme Gialle athletics activity took place. The stamp was issued on Saturday 29 May, coinciding with the anniversary of the conquest by the yellow-green athletics team, which took place in Lagos, Portugal, on 29 May 2005, of the first Champions Cup for clubs, and on the occasion of the ceremony all the athletes protagonists of that enterprise gathered to attend the event. From a graphic point of view, the stamp represents in action a group of athlete Financiers who participated in the “Scudo Nelli” Trophy, a prestigious walking race of the early twenties of the last century, then definitively conquered by the Fiamme Gialle in 1928, and which is now kept in the Historical Museum of the Body. During the ceremony, the authorities present were given a commemorative jersey of 100 years of athletics Fiamme Gialle, specially made in collaboration with Mizuno, and embellished with a progressive numbering to guarantee uniqueness and authenticity. At the opening of the ceremony, the Commander General highlighted how “the centenary is a time to stop and look back at what has been done, at what has been, at the impressive work done by generations of athletes of the Fiamme Gialle who have dedicated the their life in sport, thus celebrating their commitment, their dedication and their passion. Athletes, like financiers, although concentrated in their activities, recognize themselves as members of the same team, they are linked by a strong bond of belonging, which has its first and strongest glue in the common love for the country and for our Tricolor. Sport stimulates determination, courage, perseverance, the spirit of sacrifice, self-denial, all essential characteristics to best fulfill the tasks of us financiers “. The Fiamme Gialle have, and have had, an important and decisive role in the world of sport, in many disciplines.
