The Assembly Hall of the Rectorate and Social Council building on the Elche campus got dressed up last Thursday, June 10, to host the ceremony of delivery of the XIV Awards of the Social Council in its different modalities.

With the celebration of this meeting the Social Council of the UMH recognizes the work, effort and trajectory of those who contribute to social, economic, cultural and educational development.

The gala was accompanied by live music and marked by the emotion of the 13 winners at the time of receiving his recognitions, with the special distinction of the Social Relevance award to Alejandro Roemmers Colman, for his tireless help to those who need it most.

Excellence price

The event was attended by the president of the Social Council, Joaquín Pérez; the rector of the UMH, Juan José Ruiz Martínez; the Minister for Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society, Carolina Pascual Villalobos and the Mayor of Elche, Carlos González, as well as numerous personalities from different fields. This meeting has served to reward the excellence and also to vindicate the role and capacity of the Social Council as an instrument that drives society and the university world to advance together and create a better future.

Research and transfer

The next award went to the professor and vice-rector of inclusion Raúl Reina Vaillo, who thanks to his tireless research work at the physical activity area and adapted sport has been recognized with the Research and Transfer award.

The altruistic and solidary work of the Remavida Association, whose objective is to use the sport of rowing to raise awareness among citizens and support women diagnosed with breast cancer, has been the entity recognized in the category of non-profit organization.

College Athlete

The UMH, can be distinguished by having among its students some of the best athletes in our country. This is the case of the winner in this edition, Laura Samaniego, a great badminton player and a graduate in medicine.

The company 3D Surgical Technologies obtained the distinction of Technology-based Company for its work on the design of gynecological surgery in which it combines innovation Y design to improve the quality of life of women.
