The Playoffs – Washington Football Team Montez Sweat says “not a fan” of vaccination

NFL athletes are turning Covid-19 vaccination into a real controversy. This Wednesday (9), defensive end Montez Sweat, from the Washington Football Team, made a statement in the opposite.

The franchise brought in a vaccine expert to educate players about immunization, which left Sweat unsatisfied: “I’m not a fan of it,” the third-year defender told reporters on Wednesday, according to Sam Fortier, do Washington Post. “I probably won’t get vaccinated until I get more information and all that sort of thing. I’m not a fan of that.”

Washington brought Kizzmekia S. Corbett, an assistant professor in the department of immunology and infectious diseases at Harvard University, to introduce players to the benefits of vaccination. So far, less than half of the athletes in the franchise have been vaccinated. The NFL has encouraged athletes to get vaccinated, but so far has not made it a requirement to play in the games.

Contrary to what happens in Brazil, where a little more than 10% of the population has been fully immunized, vaccination in the US is advancing quickly. So far, 141 million people in the country (43% of the population) are fully vaccinated.
