Barely 48 hours after the publication of an article in The Athletic which revealed the influence of the so-called Haralabos Voulgaris on the decisions of Mark Cuban, the franchise has just announced the departure of its GM, Donnie Nelson, “in common agreement ”to use the terms used. According to ESPN, the decision was made on Sunday, the day before the article was published.

Arriving in Dallas in 1998 as a GM assistant when his father was the team’s coach, Donnie Nelson is a vital figure in the franchise, and it was he who asked his father to take on Dirk Nowitzki, a German who left second. division, then who built the champion team in 2011 but also selected Luka Doncic in the Draft.
Like Danny Ainge at the Celtics, he was believed to be steadfast, but the growing influence of Haralabos Voulgaris, apparently highly regarded by Mark Cuban, may have forced him to hold him to account, and his departure is a sign that The Athletic article had hit the nail on the head.
