There was not too much mystery, but seeing them all together on the same list is impressive and exciting. The Argentine Basketball Confederation released the list of 15 players who will make the tour prior to the Olympic Games with the Argentine National Team, with the usual heavyweights and some new faces.
10 of the 15 chosen were part of the 2019 World Cup in China where Argentina got second place. The guard Lucio Redivo and the center Agustín Caffaro are not from that squad, although one of the new recruits is his younger brother, Francisco, a player for the Virginia Cavaliers of the NCAA, the university league of the United States.
The other four new players in the squad are Juan Pablo Vaulet, forward for Manresa in the ACB league in Spain, Juan Francisco Fernández, power forward for Fuenlabrada in the same league, Lautaro Berra, center for Obras and Leandro Bolmaro, player for Barcelona drafted by Memphis Grizzlies of the NBA.
In addition to Bolmaro, there are the other three Argentine players from the best league in the world, Facundo Campazzo of the Denver Nuggets, Gabriel Deck of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Luca Vildoza of the New York Knicks. Of course, there is also the historic captain and current Pallacanestro Varese player, Luis Scola.
