The City Council of Cangas de Onís is studying renovating the roof of the sports center

Sports hall “Juan Antonio Vega Díaz”, in Cangas de Onís

The City Council of Cangas de Onís plans to renew the roof of the municipal sports hall this summer. This is a complex action, given that the facility is three decades old. The pavilion is named after Juan Antonio Vega Diaz, died in 1988, great defender of the end of the stage in the Lakes of Covadonga and promoter of this sports equipment

Throughout these six decades, the Cangas de Onís sports hall has more than fulfilled its mission. It has hosted national events such as several editions of the final stages of the Spanish Volleyball Championships, in different categories, two Spanish Climbing Boulder Cups, and a Spanish Badminton Championship, among others.

On the other hand, the Cangués City Council allocated the amount of 23,400 euros to the renovation of the pavement of the tennis court, located in the vicinity of this municipal sports hall Juan Antonio Vega Díaz. The works included the application of a layer of asphalt and, over it, another six of acrylic resins, in addition to the painting of the playing lines and the placement of new posts and renovation of the net.
