Ten free sports schools start their activities

The government of Santa Cruz extends the national program of Argentine Sports Schools that provides free spaces for teaching and sports improvement to children and adolescents between 11 and 17 years old. In this sense, in consensus with the different federations, the province has 27 schools that are strategically distributed with the aim of promoting the training process and promoting certain disciplines.

In particular, 9 EDAs started in the towns of: Río Gallegos (volleyball, taekwondo and table tennis), Cañadón Seco (women’s basketball), El Chaltén (climbing), Gobernador Gregores (handball and women’s soccer), Las Heras (Olympic wrestling) and Río Turbio (badminton).

It should be noted that the postponement of activities for the other disciplines is due to health reasons, because the municipal gymnasiums are being used for vaccination campaigns, or due to lack of registration. For this reason, those interested are invited to approach the local Sports Directorates and see these free access proposals.

For their part, the schools that are starting join the Dragon Boat, a proposal for women survivors of breast cancer that takes place in the CePARD facilities, like all those offered by the program in the capital city.

The EDAs available in the provincial territory are detailed below:

Caleta Olivia: 3×3 basketball, boccia, judo, Olympic wrestling and volleyball.

Dry Canyon: women’s basketball.
