Midfielder Marc Schnatterer moves to the 3rd soccer league after his era at 1. FC Heidenheim is over. The 35-year-old veteran joins last year’s eighth Waldhof Mannheim. The people of Baden announced this on Friday without giving precise details about the contract period. Schnatterer had been wearing the Heidenheim jersey since 2008, but after 13 years his contract, which expired on June 30, had not been extended.

“I’m really looking forward to being able to play for SV Waldhof Mannheim in the future,” said Schnatterer: “The SVW is of course a big traditional club that is very attractive to me.” Waldhof’s sporting director Jochen Kientz sees Schnatterer as an “absolute quality player”. The offensive midfielder brings “a lot of experience and mentality to the team” in addition to his playing skills.
