Despite an open blister on his toe, Perr Schuurs can still participate in the semi-finals of the European Championship against Young Germany.
The central defender suffered the blister on Monday in the 2-1 quarter-final win against France when he played on a new pair of shoes. “It’s an open wound, so I have to watch out for infections and bacteria,” he said a day before the important match in Budapest.
“We are going to do everything we can to minimize the pain. It is going in the right direction. I hope to be able to play tomorrow with little pain,” said Schuurs.

The defender of Ajax has a lot of confidence in a good result against Young Germany. “If we stick to our plan one hundred percent and play our game, then I estimate the chance very high. And we have to show that,” says Schuurs.
In March, the Dutch Juniors also played against Young Germany in the group stage of the European Championship. Then the game ended 1-1. “I think Germany appeals a little less to the general public than France. But you can compare them with us. I really think that is a team that wants to fight for each other,” says national coach Erwin van de Looi.
