Salvadoran Uriel Canjura made history in badminton in Spain

He was crowned champion with Club Oviedo in the Honor League of the Top8 LaLiga Sport 2020-2021

Salvadoran badminton player Uriel Canjura and his team, Club Oviedo de España, became champions of the 2020-2021 Top8 LaLiga Sport Honor Division after defeating Club Badminton Pitius in the final series.

“Unfortunately I lost my match in the return final, but this is a team and we help each other and in the end my teammates have shown themselves too much and they have managed to get it out, we are champions and I am very happy,” explained Canjura from Iberian territory.

For his part, Armando Bruni, president of the Salvadoran Badminton Federation (Fesalbad), cataloged this achievement as something historic for national badminton, since he is the first Salvadoran to be consecrated in a European league.

Similarly, Bruni highlighted the excellent season that Uriel had in his team, since of 14 individual matches he played, he only lost two.

Meanwhile, César González, coach of Oviedo, stressed that the success of the team was based on the trust that exists among the players, because when the picture looked more complicated, they managed to get ahead.

“The season has been a past, because we have won the individual cup with the girls, we have won LaLiga, they have never beaten us at home, we have fought against a super team and in fact, as they said, the small details made the difference” voiced Spanish.
