The Spaniard Rafael Nadal, 35, beaten by Novak Djokovic in the semi-final last week at Roland Garros, has decided to give up Wimbledon and the Tokyo Olympics.
“It is never an easy decision to make, but after listening to my body and discussing it with my team, I understood that it is the right decision to give up on Wimbledon and the Tokyo Games.”
“The fact that there are only two weeks between RG and Wimbledon does not make things easier for physical recovery after an always demanding clay season” added Rafa, current world No. 3 in ATP.
The Olympic Games always meant a lot and they were always a priority as a Sports person, I found the spirit that every sports person in the world wants to live. I personally had the chance to live 3 of them and had the honor to be the flag bearer for my country.“
