Pity, this Stuttgart player is a victim of name and age forgery

Stuttgart

Unfortunately for Silas Wamangituka. The VfB Stuttgart striker was apparently the victim of name and age falsification.

Stuttgart’s official website announced it on Tuesday (8/6/2021). Silas became a victim of a Belgian player agent who wanted to take advantage of him.

It all started when Silas, originally named Silas Katompa Mvumpa, left his country, the Democratic Republic of Congo, for Belgium to go on trial with Anderlecht in 2017.

Long story short, the Belgian giant was interested in recruiting him, but asked him to return to his home country first to renew his visa. This is where all the problems come from. The agent and an intermediary actually lied to Silas, saying he would not be able to return to Belgium if he returned to Congo.

Still inexperienced, Silas complied and then lived with the agent in Paris, France. There, you could say Silas was locked up because he didn’t know his surroundings. Access to accounts or other documents is also held by the agent.

That’s when the agent changed his last name on the document to Wamangituka. His age was faked. He who was born on October 6, 1998 was changed to 1999.

According to Stuttgart, the falsification of this data was not a problem for a residence permit in Europe, considering that Silas was 19 years old at that time. Allegedly, the agent and his intermediary wanted to break Silas’ relationship with his old club in Congo.

That way, it can be adjusted and squeezed easily. As a young player from Africa, Silas finally complied for the safety of his family. His salary was not fully paid to him, only part of it was given by his agent.

While in France, he played for lower division clubs, Olympique Ales and Paris FC. It wasn’t until the 2019/20 season that he moved to Stuttgart.

When in Germany, then everything was revealed. Starting from media reports that doubted Silas’ identity, the Kinshasa-born player initially denied it by providing documentary evidence.

But when he was more comfortable in Stuttgart and began to escape the shadow of the agent and the middleman, then he told Stuttgart the truth.

Currently, Silas has changed agents. He and Stuttgart are dragging the unnamed agent to court. Silas was also able to remain in Germany with his original and valid Congolese passport because he had worked together to clear up the situation.

Silas is a mainstay of Stuttgart’s front line for the last two seasons. He has appeared 58 times and scored 21 goals for Die Schwaben.
