Oviedo, much to celebrate – La Nueva España

Canteli began by saying that “it is an honor to receive you here to pay you the just tribute that you all deserve. Congratulations on this campaign, which has still been marked by the pandemic, you, the clubs, have lived up to and exceeded all expectations, starring in great milestones ”.

In the first place, the mayor personified this brilliant season at the Oviedo Badminton Club, that “despite the fact that many believed that it was a minority sport, it has won the hearts of the people of Oviedo: you have made history by proclaiming yourself League champions, the best club in Spain in this discipline. From the heart, congratulations ”.

Canteli congratulated all the clubs present at the event, “Oviedo Baloncesto and its magnificent campaign that will surely take you to the elite”; Real Oviedo Femenino in soccer, “who fought for promotion until the last moment”; to the different triumphs of Oviedo Athletics, Oviedo Roller Hockey, Oviedo Booling… ”. The first mayor has also highlighted the efforts of the Oviedo Volleyball Club, and “your promotion” to the First Men’s National, or the Oviedo Triathlon, “the first Asturian women’s club that has achieved promotion to the First Division”

The Mayor also had words for Oviedo handball, both for the Financial Union Base Oviedo and for Vetusta Handball, “a sport with great tradition in Oviedo that enjoys great health.”

According to Canteli, the attendees are “an example of hard work, an example of management and a quarry model. Without you, Oviedo would not be the ‘city of sports’. This government team will always have a hand out to help you. I wish you the best of luck for future projects ”.
