Once a month from July 4th: Berlin’s museums start free Sunday – Berlin

With a corona-related delay, Berlin museums start the Sunday that has been planned for a long time without entry tickets.

For those interested, around 60 houses in the capital will open their doors free of charge on July 4th. According to Monday, museums are involved in different bodies with topics such as culture, art, design, religion, history, nature, everyday culture or technology.

Listed among the participating museums on the museumssonntag.berlin website are the Alte Nationalgalerie, the Bode-Museum, the Hamburger Bahnhof and the James-Simon-Galerie.

Museum Sunday, planned as a model project on the first Sunday of each month (August 1, September 5, October 3, November 7, December 5), is supported by the state, federal and regional association of museums.

The origin was a long, controversial debate about free entry to large parts of the Humboldt Forum, which after its virtual start in December will open its doors to the first areas in July. The lost income of the museums and additional funds are financed by the federal and state governments. (dpa,Tsp)
