Olympia – Olympic qualification: Serbs without NBA MVP Jokic

Cologne (SID) – The five-time basketball world champion Serbia has to do without star player Nikola Jokic at the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The most valuable player (MVP) of the past NBA main round has canceled his participation.

“The condition of my body requires a longer break,” said the Denver Nuggets center on Instagram on Wednesday. He is following a suggestion from the club, “I have to accept that.”

Jokic failed in the quarter-finals of the play-offs with Denver against the Phoenix Suns (0: 4). The Serbs will be playing for the ticket to Japan in Belgrade from June 29th to July 4th. It is unclear whether Jokic would be available in the event of a qualification at the Olympic tournament.
