OFFAGNA – From medieval festivals to medieval summer. The Covid for the second year it distorts the historical re-enactment that made it famous Offagna. These events linked to the tradition of medieval festivals are accompanied by other appointments organized with the museum complex and the Municipality to propose visits to the Rocca combined with aperitifs and tastings in the two cellars of the village, Malacari and Vigna della Cava. “Despite the still limiting protocols, we managed to re-propose an interesting billboard for both tourists and fellow citizens, thanks to the support of the Region and private sponsors,” Mayor Ezio Capitani said yesterday in the press conference sent live on the social channels of the Party Committee for Offagna.

The three routes of the route
Digital, experiential and medieval: these are the keywords of the 2021 events. Digital because it will be possible to book and pay online and watch the various shows through the live social media, reaching a wider audience than the approximately 200 admitted to the square every evening. Experiential because, for the first time, the visitor who books for dinner with a medieval menu, will be able to participate in the afternoon in workshops and exhibitions with falconers, flag-wavers and archery. Finally medieval, because through its historical re-enactments and its beauties Offagna wants to relaunch itself after the difficult years of financial turmoil and the pandemic.

“We managed to renew the Committee by involving all the souls of the village and opening ourselves to digitization with a group of young people and communication” explained the new president Cristian Tava, a Milanese who married in Offagna with a banquet in one of the celebrations 20 years ago. taverns in the districts.
Here, one of the consequences of the pandemic is that there will be no taverns where to eat the crescia di Offagna, nor itinerant ceremonies open to all, but only contingent and on reservation.

Trying to enhance the three city museums (of ancient weapons, natural sciences and the Liberation of Ancona), the aperitifs will be offered under the Rocca on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 15 June to 15 September. And from tomorrow, every Monday and Thursday until September 16, the guided visits to the museums will be combined with tastings in the two cellars of Offagna.

The dinners
The medieval dinners will be animated by the Offagna Historical Group and the Signo Gladii and will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 17 July to 21 August (except for the weekend of August 15th). Among the novelties the Flag race (18 July) between the groups of Offagna, Corinaldo and Servigliano and the experiential days (7-8 August). The Challenge in Arms between the Croce, San Bernardino, Sacramento and Torrione districts (30-31 July) will return to the streets after the exile in 2020 at the sports field: “more than tourists, the challenges will be addressed to the Offagnesi,” says Tava.

During the evenings of events it will be possible to visit the exhibitions in the hall to advise on the posters that made the history of medieval festivals and in the monastery of Santa Zita on the customs and statutes of the time, and on the works and projects of the architect Vici.
