Christian Eriksen is safe, sound and in good spirits after seeing death on the pitch during Denmark-Finland a Euro 2020. Even the midfielder in a video call with his national team mates would have said “You are in worse shape than me, I would be ready to train”. But obviously for the moment Eriksen cannot leave the hospital, where they are doing all the necessary investigations to understand how it is possible that he went into cardiac arrest, since he has never had any problem, even the slightest, of this nature.
In the meantime, heavy declarations have arrived from Peter Schmeichel on the resumption of the match between Denmark and Finland: the rumor had spread that it was Eriksen himself who asked his teammates to take the field a few hours after the near drama, but apparently it does not correspond to the truth. “Does Uefa say we played on Eriksen’s advice? This is not the whole truth – said Schmeichel – they gave us three options: take the field immediately, recover the next day, lose 3-0 at the table. You regret having returned to the field ”.
Also Michael Laudrup he criticized the choice to return to the field immediately after Eriksen’s incident: “When things like this happen, the player is prey to emotions, he doesn’t have the overview to make important decisions. There must be someone saying ‘now we stop here’. Making a decision so close to such an emotional event I think is wrong ”.
