Genoa. 324 photos, one word: emotions! The ninth edition of the Nicali Photographic Award – Iren promoted by Stars in Sport with the patronage of the Liguria Region, the Municipality of Genoa, Coni and Cip, it has once again collected a record number of shots from all over Liguria. Record of participation but also of social interactions! Ben 26,211 preferences expressed by the audience of Stelle nella Sport through the “Likes”: about 10,000 more than in the 2020 edition.
The most popular photography, with 3112 likes, portrays the smile of the young woman Vittoria Oliva, Genoese table tennis player in a wheelchair, during a federal meeting in Lignano Sabbiadoro. In second place, with 2592 likes, there is the youth water polo and the centennial Sportiva Sturla in the shot of Paolo Berardi. Tribute to women’s football for the third most voted photograph sent by Paolo Barabino: portrays Giorgia, a very young Sampdoria number 1 who is a fan of Genoa.
The best friends of men and women, dogs, in the fourth and fifth classified images: Sara (Cuvato) and Nemo with 1026 preferences, Antonia (Brigati) and Sofy with 892. Proceeding there is basketball with Jellali Rana (811), freestyle bike with Fabio Accorra (740), open water swimming with Elena Princivalle (516). In the top 10 also “on tiptoe” with Silvia Di Salvatore (412) and the Para-Archery with Chiara Alberti (315). Basketball also occupies the eleventh (Elisa Busellato with 308 votes) and the twelfth (Matilde Palagruto with 286 votes).
Then there is judo with Giada Chioso (283 votes) and the spartan race with Stefano Privino (278 votes). The love of cycling is featured in two exciting photo specials by Eunike: Serena Taccetti, fifteenth with 266 preferences, ed Eleonora Ferrari, eighteenth with 246. Other sports in plain sight: taekwondo beats the coronavirus, as he explains Fabrizio Terrile (264 – sixteenth), and Quilian gymnastics with Aureliano Pastorelli (252 – seventeenth). Swimming, nineteenth with Giovanni Valle (237), and motorcycling, twentieth with Roberto Nacucchi (236), complete a photographic overview full of emotions.
«Many sports immortalized in different moments: the races, the behind the scenes, the joy, sometimes even the bitterness for a defeat. The technical gesture, the hug, the friendship. There are the photos of the sport that resists, with the now inevitable masks, but also and above all the sport that we want to return soon to practice and live: that made of hugs, contact, competition and passion. Much of the theme of these 324 photos is linked to basic sporting activity, what is missing most at the moment but lives, indeed shines, through hundreds of photographic shots.
Climbing, martial arts (judo, wrestling, karate, jujitsu), athletics, motor racing, badminton, soccer, Olympic and fixed seat rowing, canoeing, cycling, sports dance, hockey, motorcycling, power boating, mountain biking, swimming (rescue and synchronized ), basketball, water polo, volleyball, paragliding, skating, sport fishing, weight lifting, running, boxing, fencing, spartan race dog sports, equestrian sports, winter sports, surfing, taekwondo, tennis, archery, sailing. Sports for all abilities, with a wide participation of families from the world of Coni, Cip and Special Olympics. The Nicali – Iren Photographic Award offers, once again, the opportunity to come into contact with numerous sports disciplines. Of every skill, to deliver a strong inclusive message.
The 20 photographs that obtained the highest number of “likes” will make up the official exhibition at the Coni Federations Building and at the Gala delle Stelle on September 24th and will receive the Stars in Sport award kit. These are joined by the 3 photographs selected by the “quality jury” whose authors are awarded three splendid awards (an IrenGO electric bike, an All Sport voucher for 150 euros in sports materials and a Welcare product kit). The following bonuses go to the top three of the “popular jury”: a 4-person GNV trip + car, a Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite Gps SmartWatch and a kit of products by Bottega Ligure.
The award ceremony will be held on Friday 18 June at 7 pm at the Porto Antico of Genoa, in Piazza delle Feste (under the marquee), as part of Ocean Race Europe.
