Rafael Nadal will meet Novak Djokovic in the semifinals of the 2021 French Open. These two players were able to get rid of their opponents in the quarterfinals.
Nadal appeared first to play in the quarter-finals against Argentine tennis player Diego Schwartzman at Court Philippe Chartier, Wednesday (9/6/2021) night WIB.
Nadal was able to overcome the resistance of Schwartzman 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0. Despite the defeat, Schwartzman gave quite tough resistance to the 13-time French Open champion.
Schwartzman was able to force Nadal to lose the second set. The win in the second set saw Schwartzman end Nadal’s record of winning 36 consecutive sets at Roland Garros.
The match was fierce in the third set with the position being tied at 4-4. At critical points, Nadal appeared calm and then won this set 6-4.
The 35-year-old then made sure to win the match with a convincing 6-0 win in the fourth set. Nadal admits that Schwartzman has made it difficult for him. Calmness is the key to Nadal’s victory this time.
“I was in a difficult situation, 4-3 for him in the third set, a set of everything. It was a moment to calm down. Thinking about the things I did well in training,” Nadal said. BBC.

Meanwhile, Djokovic had to undergo a tough match to reach the semifinals. He overcame 25-year-old Italian Matteo Berretini 6-3, 6-2, 6-7(5), 7-5.
Appearing convincing in the first two sets, Djokovic had trouble in the next two sets. Had lost the third set, the Serbian tennis player was forced to work hard in the deciding set to win 7-5 narrowly.
In the women’s singles sector, defending French Open champion Iga Swiatek had to lose in the quarterfinals. He was eliminated by the Greek Maria Sakkari 6-4 6-4.
