When the players come to Mexico, they make sure that they and their families have incredible moments. What kind of activities do you have planned?
We always have a number of activities, however, due to the pandemic we are more limited. Of course, we have a large percentage of players who are vaccinated and therefore ATP lowers the measurements a bit. In Acapulco the players could not even go to the beach or the sea, here it is different, we can take the players to the beach, so we have activities that we will rally with ATP. In previous years we have done everything: zip-lining, excursions with dolphins, days of fishing or golf, motorcycle activities to explore the dunes, etc. We have an endless list of activities that we will carry out as they allow us.
Tell me a bit about sanitary measures, what will a normal day be like for players in Los Cabos?
The player reaches a lobby which is special for ATP players and staff, the first thing they have to do is take the antigen test and go up to their room (you will receive your result in less than 15 minutes). They have an area called “The Green Zone” (which is a bubble) in which they have their gym, their pool, their access to the beach, their restaurant as well as a space where they can relax and entertain. All they have there is a space just for them, the moment they decide to go to the venue to train or get to a game they take a special transport, there they will also have a gym, jacuzzi, dressing rooms and restaurant. Everything is super planned so that players are not exposed, plus antigen tests will be done every other day.
This will be the first time that the competition is held at the Cabos Sports Complex, what do we need to know about the new venue?
Although this venue is going to be the house of tennis, it is designed so that there will also be events of all kinds throughout the year, we will have concerts, cultural, social and sporting events, the idea is to bring concerts from the United States to make a kind of “rehearsals”, all these types of activities are the grid that we have to design for the next few months.
It has been said that we should not rule out any last minute surprises, when do you think we can have news?
We have two Wild Cards to be defined and the players who are deciding not to go to the Olympic Games are falling like dominoes, we have several requests so we are analyzing which ones to accept (also our objective is to support the Mexicans). We will release one or two more Wild Cards in the coming weeks.
For the fans who will watch the tournament from our home, will we be able to participate in some kind of online activity?
There are going to be several activities with the aim that somehow the fans can get closer and closer together. meet and greets with the players.
It is important to give voice and support to these types of sporting events, as fans, what can we do even if we cannot be in the stands?
