Men’s U19 Basketball World Cup: The national flag awarded to basketball players

Qualified for the 15th edition of the U19 Men’s Basketball World Cup which will be held in Latvia from July 3 to 11, 2021, the national flag was officially presented to the national team on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the Colombus hotel in Bamako.

The ceremony was chaired by Mossa Ag Attaher, Minister of Youth and Sports, in charge of Civic Education and Citizen Construction, who was represented by his technical advisor, Mahamadou Sidibé. It was in the presence of Harouna B Maiga, president of the Malian Basketball Federation, the directors of the central services attached to the sports department, coaches as well as the players.

For the third time, Mali is going to represent Africa in this competition. According to the explanations of the president of the Malian Basketball Federation, “ we are going as warriors, we are going to represent a whole country, a bruised country, but which really needs a leap of honor so that we can more make the Malian people happy. ”

The minister’s representative, Mahamadou Sidibé said that it is Mali which despite all the problems leaves to represent all of Africa. ” You have a duty to be exemplary, you will meet people who do not know Mali, they must discover Mali through you and that they discover Mali in the most positive way possible. We will be very happy to see you evolve and welcome you at Bamako international airport with the cup, ” said Mr. Sidibé.

The captain of the U 19 national team, Mr. Oumar Ballo, invites all Malians to “ support us with blessings so that we can take the small step that we could not do during the last edition who to bring the cup to Malian territory. ”

The ceremony ended with the presentation of the national colors to the U19 national basketball team.
