Matthias Casse and Sami Chouchi start well in less than 81 kg

Matthias Casse, world No. 1, and Sami Chouchi, 15th in the world, have approached the world judo championships in the under 81 kg category, which brought together 77 judokas, Wednesday in Budapest, Hungary.

In the first round, Chouchi, 28, inflicted an ippon (immobilization) after 1:25 of combat on the Uruguayan Rodrigo Gamou (not classified) who had almost surprised the Brussels resident after 30 seconds by obtaining a waza-ari. He will meet Kuwaiti Abdullah Alkhuzam (IJF 123) in the second round.

Casse, 24, was exempt from the first round. He entered the competition in the second round against the Ukrainian Hievoth Manukian (IJF 118) who had managed to beat the 23rd in the world the Italian Antonio Esposito in the first round. The Antwerp player struggled to place an attack but won the golden score (ippon) after 1:02 of additional bout.

In the 3rd round, he will meet the Hungarian Benedek Toth (IJF 76) or the Congolese of the DRC Cédric Kalonga (IJF 126).
