LOK has invited Levita, Kariņa and Muižniece to go to attend the Tokyo Olympic Games

Timmer pointed out that government officials are traditionally invited to the Olympics, so this year’s Olympics in Tokyo were no exception.

Although invitations to participate in the Latvian delegation have been sent out, the LOK is still waiting for answers from state officials.

Along with Covid-19 security measures to prevent the flow of people, the “bubble” principle will have to be respected by both Olympic participants and government officials.

The Tokyo Olympics were postponed for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic and are scheduled to run from July 23 to August 8. The Paralympic Games are planned for this summer from August 24 to September 5.

Since 1948, the Summer Olympics have been held every four years. Although the Olympics experienced boycotts, terrorist attacks and protests, they were never postponed, but this time the rapid spread of the coronavirus in the world prevented athletes from gathering in Tokyo last summer.

In the history of the world, only three Olympic Games have been canceled so far, and in all cases it was due to war.
