Kobe Bryant’s widow resolves lawsuit with helicopter company after accident

Vanessa Bryant, the widow of Kobe Bryant, reached an agreement with the helicopter company that he had denounced for The crash that killed the Los Angeles Lakers legend and eight other people, including his 13-year-old daughter Gigi.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Vanessa Bryant and other relatives of the victims reached an agreement with the helicopter company to close this lawsuit for alleged negligence in the deadly accident.

Last February, the investigators of this event assured that the helicopter pilot was disoriented due to the fog and maintained that he did not follow the rules when flying through thick clouds.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) was charged with investigating the accident occurred on January 26, 2020 in Calabasas (California, USA).

The NTSB detailed that the pilot Ara Zobayan, who also died in the accident, became disoriented when flying through the fog that was that day in a mountainous area west of Los Angeles (USA).

The authorities assured that Zobayan was thus against the norms of his formation, since when flying between thick clouds and with limited visibility a pilot can come to think that he is going up when in reality he is losing altitude.

That was what happened in this accident, according to the NTSB, which recalled that the pilot had signaled to air control, shortly before crashing, that he was gaining altitude to overcome the clouds even though, in fact, he was descending.

The helicopter had taken off in the morning from Orange County, southeast of Los Angeles, and was heading to Ventura County, located west of the Californian city, when it finally rushed at around 09:45 a.m. in a mountainous area of the city of Calabasas.

Regardless of the now resolved complaint, Vanessa Bryant continues to fight in court with another lawsuit this time against the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office after news was published that some agents took photos of the accident with their personal mobiles and shared them later illegally.

Kobe Bryant is the NBA’s fourth all-time leading scorer (33,643 points) and a timeless myth for the Los Angeles Lakers, with whom he won five rings displaying a fierce and tireless competitive spirit.

Bryant’s death caused a stir in Los Angeles, in the NBA and in the world of sports in general.
