Juventus legend Boniperti is gone forever

The striker “Juventus” made his debut in the first team in 1946 and a couple of seasons later at the age of 20 became the best goal scorer in the A series. Together with the team, he won five Italian championship titles.

Boniperti, Welsh John Charles and Argentine-born Italian Omar Sivori formed the Juventus offensive line, which was dubbed the “magic trio”.

Boniperti made his Italian national team debut in 1947 and took part in the next two World Cup finals. He had eight goals scored in 38 matches in the national team.

In his career as a professional footballer, Boniperti scored 178 goals in the “Juventus” shirt until 1961 and was the club’s best bomber of all time for a long time. In 2010, he was overthrown by Alessandro del Pierre, but in the 1980s, one goal was scored by Robrto Betega.
