Judo: World Championships, Manuel Lombardo silver in 66 kg

Budapest, June 7 – (Adnkronos) – Manuel Lombardo won silver at the Judo World Championships, underway in Budapest, in the -66 kg category and legitimized his qualification for the Tokyo Games: in Japan he will be number one in the ranking. The blue, after defeating the German Seidl and the Cuban Polanco, the Russian Shalimov and, in the semifinals, the Kazakh Zhumakanov in the semifinal, was only surpassed in the final by the reigning world champion, the Japanese Joshiro Maruyama. Odette Giuffrida also qualified for the Games, today an interested spectator of -52 kg but with the five-circle pass already in the safe. The blues qualified for Tokyo 2020 thus rise to 315 (161 men, 154 women) in 30 different disciplines with 76 individual passes.
