Judo: “ The Canadian El Nahas is beaten in his first fight at the World Judo Championships

BUDAPEST, Hungary – The day for the only Canadian judoka in action Thursday at the World Judo Championships came to a close after just one fight.

Mohab El Nahas lost by waza-ari in the first round of the tournament in the under 90 kg category, ahead of Mauritian Rémi Feuillet, who finished seventh in the competition.

Spaniard Nikoloz Sherazadishvili won the gold medal against Uzbek Davlat Bobonov. The Swede Marcus Nyman and the Hungarian Krisztian Toth got their hands on the bronze medals.

In the ladies’ category, no Canadian was in contention in the under 70 kg category.

Croatia’s Barbara Matic defeated Japan’s Yoko Ono in the final. The bronze medals went to the Austrian Michaela Polleres and the Dutch Sanne Van Dijke.

On Friday, Canadians Shady El Nahas and Kyle Reyes will be in action in the under 100 kg category.
