Cincinnati Reds player Joey Votto won his appeal for a two-game suspension from Major League Baseball on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old Canadian has reduced his sentence to one game instead of two. He therefore served his entire penalty by missing his team’s clash against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday.

On Saturday, the first baseman was sent off in the first inning of a duel against the San Diego Padres, following an altercation with home plate umpire Ryan Additon. Manager David Bell was also shown the exit door during this incident.

In 43 games this season, Votto has hit eight balls under other skies, producing 30 points in the process. The 15-season veteran has also maintained a .240 batting average so far this season.
