Wednesday, June 23, 2021 is olympic day. On this occasion, the City of Val-de-Reuil (Eure), Terre de jeux 2024, and the CDOS (French National Olympic and Sports Committee) of the Eure had decided to organize an Olympic and para-Olympic day at the stade Jesse Owens.

The objective was to introduce young people from the rolival region who are licensed in clubs to other sports. Sometimes less well known than others.

To give scope to the initiative, many high-level athletes had made the trip. All have already participated in the Olympic Games or very large international competitions.

In the “athletics palace” of Val-de-Reuil

So, Muriel hurtis (athletics / sprint), Leonie Cambours (athletics / heptathlon), Kséniya Moustafaeva (Rhythmic Gymnastics), Emilie Gomis (basket-ball), Brice Guyart (fencing / foil), Wilfried Boulineau (athletics / decathlon) and Stéphane Renault (Badminton) were present. And inevitably, they could not escape the traditional signing session.

Rachida Dordain, deputy mayor in charge of sports, was with Pascale ravaux, director of the sports department. Both very happy to see the “athletics palace” transformed into an Olympic stadium: “I am very happy to see all these children on this Olympic day playing different sports,” says Pascale Ravaux.

All the clubs present with their educators were on an equal footing.

Athletics, badminton, basketball, fencing, football, gymnastics, golf, handball, judo and wrestling clubs responded positively to the proposal of the Town Hall and the CDOS of the Eure.

“Restore readability to clubs”

The event took place in the indoor stadium, the rain having somewhat upset the initial organization. The young people all wore a big smile and dressed in a jersey dedicated to this Olympic day.

The National Education has launched a call for applications to obtain the label “ Generation 2024 ”. For schools and educational establishments, it aims to develop bridges between the educational world and the sports movement in order to encourage physical and sports practice among young people.

In Val-de-Reuil, three schools have been labeled: the Louise Michel, Le Pivollet and Les Cerfs-Volants schools. The label has four objectives: developing structuring projects with the region’s sports clubs, participating in Olympic and Paralympic promotional events, supporting or welcoming high-level athletes and opening up the sports facilities of the establishments.

Rachida Dordain, sports assistant at the Town Hall of Val-de-Reuil, concludes: “We have to give the clubs more clarity. This is the purpose of our demonstration today. The collective won. You have to innovate and sometimes be a little out of step. The big question is how do you pick up in September? If all goes well, there will be on the associations forum at the beginning of September. “
