Sven Ulreich suffered 40 goals last season and did not concede a goal in nine games

Sven Ulreich was one of the pillars that should bring HSV back to the Bundesliga. Accompanied by high hopes, he came from Bayern. However, the 32-year-old had deficits as a goalkeeper. Now he is leaving – and thus possibly pre-empting a demotion.
BAt the second division HSV, goalkeeper Sven Ulreich and the club parted ways prematurely – and surprisingly. “Both sides came to this joint decision after an open analysis of the past season,” announced the club. The 32-year-old keeper was only under contract with the North Germans for eight months. Ulreich’s contract originally ran until 2023. He is said to have waived a severance payment.
The former U21 international came from FC Bayern Munich in October last year and guarded the goal in 32 games. HSV was not completely satisfied with the goalkeeper. Although he showed strong performances on the line, he had football deficits and thus made some mistakes. The new coach Tim Walter should focus more on a good footballer between the posts.
Ulreich may anticipate a possible demotion. Walter needs the goalkeeper as the first development player for his game philosophy. Ulreich could not have achieved that with his limited footballing skills.
After Hunt, the second prominent HSV exit
“Things don’t always work the way you planned or imagined. That is why we decided together with Sven that we can terminate the current contract and he can face a new challenge ”, sports director Michael Mutzel is quoted as saying. But Ulreich is also available for free. After Aaron Hunt, he is the second prominent departure from HSV.
Is it now the hour of Ulreich representative Daniel Heuer Fernandes (28)? The German-Portuguese stewed the last series after two strong appearances at the beginning only on the bench, and as a good kicker fits better into Walter’s profile.
