Henderson Resigns from England National Team

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

England goalkeeper, Dean Henderson had to withdraw from the team that appeared in Euro 2020 (Euro 2021) due to injury.

Reporting from Sky Sports, Henderson did not take part in the England national team training session on Monday (14/6) local time. He was sidelined because he is still recovering from a hip injury.

However, the injury shows no signs of recovering anytime soon. The situation forced Henderson to leave the team and forget his dream of appearing in his first major tournament.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper will return to Manchester United to find out more about the condition of his injury. In addition, players who had been on loan at Sheffield United will undergo rehabilitation ahead of the new season’s competition.

Henderson’s place will be replaced by Aaron Ramsdale. The Sheffield goalkeeper was previously included in England’s provisional squad of 33 players.

However, he was later dropped along with seven other players as Southgate named the 26 players set to feature at Euro 2020.

Ramsdale will now first pass the Covid-19 test according to protocol. If tested negative, the 23-year-old goalkeeper could join his England team-mates.

According to Euro 2020 regulations, each team is allowed to change goalkeepers for medical reasons throughout the tournament. Ramsdale will later be joined by two England goalkeepers, Jordan Pickford and Sam Johnstone.
