Last weekend, the Judo Club Doryoku traveled to Santander to compete in the XIV edition of the Basander Trophy. The level was very high and had the participation of eight teams from Cantabria, Asturias, the Basque Country and the charro. The tournament had all the sanitary measures established by the IMD, including the use of a mask during the competition.

On this occasion, the Doryoku participants attended with the following equipment:

José Ramos Vara (in less than 66 kg.)
Carlos Antón Zurdo (in less than 66 kg.)
Fernando Díaz Sánchez (in less than 73 kg.)
Marcos Mangas Romo (in less than 73 kg.)
Israel Contador Castillo (in less than 81 kg.)
Joaquín Cidoncha Rodríguez (in more than 90 kg.)

The Doryoku Judo Club was framed in the initial tie with the teams of Guadalupekoa, Basander II and Asalia. The meetings ended with 4-1, 4-0 and 4-1. All three were very favorable and the judokas from Salamanca qualified for the semifinal with solvency. In that, unfortunately, the charros would fall by a tight 3-2 against the Navarrese team, settling for a creditable third place and going up to the podium to collect the bronze medal. Javier Sánchez Pablos, also belonging to the local entity, attended as arbitrator.
