GLOSA: Smicr’s gesture that saved the road to revival

He helped Fousek into the chair. He also led his F-evolution, whose face and leader for many months from its inception to the Nymburk General Assembly, to at least a partial victory in the football election, but he paid for it himself. Or rather paid extra. Vladimír Šmicer failed in the fight for the position of vice-president, so the new Strahov general will sit and decide without him.

Even the appeals of the newly elected head of Czech football did not help, because the Czech delegates standing by their majority in the “big” election of the chairman for the unsuccessful candidate Karel Poborský decided that there would be too many changes.

For Petr Fousek, this created a not very pleasant constellation. He will not be able to rely on Štístek Šmicera, who was abandoned by luck this time. At the same time, he was to be one of the key men in the new Strahov government.

TWO FOR ONE: Fish and football stink from the head. That is why Šmicer calls for five Strahov heads

In Nymburk, Fousek’s prognostic words were only confirmed, that the path to democratization, transparency, credibility and a better image of Czech football will not be a matter of weeks or months, but that it is a long-distance run. A pilgrimage for a revival that lasts for years, for example, as the legacy of Berber’s empire in football still persists. Undertakers of the Grand Chief as well.

The delegates made it clear to their unspoken Šmicr that they did not want such a radical change, and that the democratization of football within their defined tracks is quite sufficient for them.

Šmicer was convinced of that. His F-evolution with him.

The new football ruler Fousek is celebrating a win, but only partially

He deserves even more respect for the deed he did when, a week after the announcement of the candidacy, he withdrew his decision and decided to support Fousek. Knowing that the fragmentation of forces would not help him, Fousek, F-evolution and especially Czech football. The Nymburk vote confirmed how far-sighted it was, because who knows how the vote and the further direction of Czech football would turn out if it weren’t for Šmicr’s gestures, originally called a cowardly escape from the election scene.

Probably not even a partial victory of F-evolution and the first step giving hope for change would not take place at the general meeting.
