Ronaldo scores again, but Germany fights back

After the defeat against France, Germany had to work hard and also pulled out all the stops from minute 1. An early disallowed goal by Gosens was the starting signal for fifteen minutes of power play by the Germans, with also opportunities for Havertz and Kroos.

Portugal survived the German storm and reacted after fifteen minutes with a razor-sharp counter. Via Jota the ball came to the free-running Ronaldo, who couldn’t miss anymore: one chance, one goal for Portugal.

The Germans did not give up and continued to opt for the attack, with success. In a few crazy minutes, the Mannschaft turned the score around completely. First Havertz forced his guard Dias to an own goal, moments later Guerreiro also worked the ball into his own goal with a hard cross from Kimmich.

Portugal, meanwhile, got no further than two half chances for Dias and Jota. The Germans were really dangerous a few times before the break: Patricio had his hands full with icings from Gosens and Gnabry.

Strong Germans increase the score after the break

Germany continued on its momentum after the break and quickly put the game in a decisive fold. The elusive Gosens gave Havertz the 1-3 after a tremendous collective attack by the Germans.

On the hour, star Gosens finally counted out the Portuguese. Atalanta’s winger topped off his strong match with the 1-4 on Kimmich’s pass. The Portuguese defense stood by and watched.

Still, the light was not completely out for Portugal. Ronaldo offered Jota the 2-4, which silenced the German party in Munich for a while. And so after that it even became 3-4: a hard blow from Sanches died against the post.

But it stayed at 2-4. After the loss to France, Germany makes a big statement with this resounding victory. Everything has to be decided on the final day of play in group F, even Hungary still has a chance to win the next round. Exciting!
