France – Bulgaria – Les notes des Bleus: Never bury Giroud!

Hugo Lloris: 5

He had absolutely nothing to do. A match without history.

Benjamin Surname: 7

Offensive from the start of the match, he was never caught behind his back. Confidently, the Munich resident took his ease over the course of the game until he delivered a nice assist for Olivier Giroud (84th). A caviar that rewards a very serious match.

  • In short… In difficulty in Wales, he proves that he remains the benchmark for the post.

Raphaël Varane : 7

Very aggressive and very high, his positioning allowed the Blues to suffocate the Bulgarians. The Madrilenian hovered over the meeting with a rare intensity in his intentions and his interventions. Apart from a few faults, a clear round.

  • In short… Very good Varane.

Presnel Kimpembe: 5.5

Precious in the cover, it is not always flawless in its placement. The Parisian must remain vigilant in his interventions and remains on a wire.

  • In short… At the limit, but often on the safe side.

Lucas Hernandez: 5.5

If he suffered a knee pain this week, it was not seen on the pitch. Always so intractable in the duels, he compensated for certain placements a little high by his taste for the fight. Offensive availability like his good center from Benzema (6th).

  • In short… Exit in the 46th minute, Deschamps continues to manage it.

Replaced in the 45th by Lucas Digne: 5

Less precise than during his last outings in Blue, he rarely found his attackers. If there is still a reliable recourse, he has not delivered his bloodiest performance.

  • In short… A little Worthy.

N’Golo Kanté: 6

We have rarely seen him so offensive in the France team but he was less successful than Chelsea in the use of the ball. Too shy in the area, he did not always know on which foot to dance. But he has so recovered, countered or slowed down the opposing balls that he remains, of course, unavoidable.

  • In short… Its standards have been so high in recent weeks that we are entitled to expect even better.

Replaced by Thomas Lemar (65th) who brought a lot of energy with his fiery legs, especially on Giroud’s second goal.

Paul Pogba: 7.5

What a demonstration! He took twenty minutes to measure the Bulgarians but it was worth the wait. Heels, a sombrero, dribbles, breakthroughs, openings in the feet: Pogba pulled out all his gear and seemed to be having fun in the midst of overwhelmed Bulgarians. Magic yes, but above all efficiency. His perfect opening for Benzema (19th) further proves that the mobility of the Madrilenian is a real crutch for Pogba whose game calls for movement in front of him.

  • In short… With this Pogba, the Blues have conquered the world. Europe can tremble.

Corentin Tolisso: 6.5

Coco is doing it again for us. As in 2018, he takes advantage of the preparation to gain in thickness. While we thought he was lost for the Euro, the Munich player has yet proven his worth. Its volume is essential in this system which requires a lot of compensation. He thus perfectly covered the climbs of Kanté. He is the perfect complement in the midst of Chelsea. His aggressiveness and his knowledge of placement completely extinguished the Bulgarians.

  • In short… Rabiot’s place hangs by a thread.

Replaced by Moussa Sissoko (84th)

Antoine Griezmann: 7

Another goal. And what a goal of a pretty turned chisel. As usual, he played his team, and Mbappé should have taken advantage of it several times, but it is from him that the light has come. He could even have doubled the bet with more skill (38th, 49th) and continues to prove that he remains the number 1 danger for the Blues. Top scorer (13), best passer (12) for the Blues since the World Cup. And their best player, of course.

Replaced by Ousmane Dembélé (66th).

Kylian Mbappé : 5,5

He did everything well… until the last gesture. He first perfectly integrated the triangle with Benzema and Griezmann through his calls and transmissions. His caviar for Griezmann (36th) deserved a better fate. After the break, he favored the individual option, without success. But he always respected what the game demanded.

  • In short… Less clinical.

Replaced by Wissam Ben Yedder (84th) decisive passer for Giroud.

Karim Benzema: (not rated)

He proved how precious he could be in the construction and the exit of the ball as on this action of which he was at the origin and at the conclusion (11th). His agreement with Griezmann and Mbappé seemed even finer, like his opening for the Parisian (27th). But he was cut in his tracks due to injury (38th). The crutch from which he suffers leaves a doubt now.

Replaced by Olivier Giroud: 7

He initially suffered from the comparison with Karim Benzema. Less available than the Madrilenian in the game, he recalled that he was above all there to score. His double, between combat and opportunism, sums up the man perfectly. Always where it is needed, even when it is no longer expected.

  • In short… France only had it for Benzema, but Giroud should never, but never be buried.
