First win of the season for the Wild Farmers

BASEBALL: The first division club expects Untouchables from Paderborn for the second double header on Saturday in Ballpark Dohren

(cc). In the first double header of the 1st Bundesliga North in their home ballpark in Dohren, the Wild Farmers took their first two victories of the season. They won against the strong Berlin Flamingos last weekend with 15: 9 and 7: 6. In the highly competitive second game, the Wild Farmers were even able to turn a 4-6 deficit with three runs in the seventh inning into a 7-6 win.
But initially the hosts set the tone in the first game in the “Home Opener” in front of 150 admitted spectators, although the Flamingos had increased enormously with import players in the new season and were able to celebrate a victory against Dortmund on the first day of play.
For the Wild Farmers, Iwan Galkin stood on the hill, who was in a particularly good mood. Nevertheless, the powerful guests, who recorded 14 hits in the course of the first game, were able to score continuously right from the start. However, at times the Wild Farmers’ defense was not constant enough to prevent this.
An open exchange of blows developed in which Maik Ehmcke was able to book his first home run for Dohren. The hosts even managed a solo home run in the third inning. At the end of the sixth inning, the Wild Farmers were able to take the lead 8: 7.
In the period that followed, the hosts even managed to set themselves apart. Because five runs in the 7th inning, including a second home run by Brandon Stevens, ensured the preliminary decision.
Jannis Wedemeyer, who had taken over the hill from Iwan Galkin after the 6th inning, had to accept two runs, but basically didn’t allow anything more. As the host’s best batsman, Edvardas “Ed” Matusevicius was able to distinguish himself with three hits in five at bats, three RBIs (Run Batted) and three runs. In the end, the Wild Farmers were able to celebrate a clear 15: 9 victory in their first game.
The second game, which was far more exciting, ended just 7-6 for the Wild Farmers. During the game, Jaspreet “Jas” Shergill threw his second game for Dohren, who initially needed some time to find his way into the game. The Wild Farmers survived the first inning without runs, but then had to leave the points to the guests because the Wild Farmers’ defense began to wobble again.
Suddenly the hosts were 2: 5 behind after the fourth inning. Only a home run by Maik Ehmcke made hope for the turnaround again. Because now Jas Shergill had found a better place in the game and kept the flamingos on a short leash. Only after the victorious inning, with only three of the total of six runs achieved, he left the mound. With a close 7: 6 lead by Wild Farmers, Ed Matusivicius took over the hill again, and also solved this task with flying colors. Although three runners reached first base per base on balls, he didn’t hit a hit and hit four batterers back into the dugout. It stayed at 7: 6. The best batter (batter) in the Wild Farmers in this round was Maik Ehmcke.
The Untouchables from Paderborn will be guests at the Ballpark in Dohren next Saturday, June 19th for the next double header. The first game starts at 1 p.m. and the second game starts at 4.30 p.m. “Last weekend against Berlin, the team had to fight hard for the two victories. On Saturday against the strong Untouchables from Paderborn, it is now a matter of concentrating on the defensive in order to get at least one split, ”explains Farmer’s press spokeswoman Kirsten Dallmann.
